Desert Museum - Saltillo, Coahuila

The Desert Museum, open to the public on November 27, 1999, is an original project for Mexico, designed to make people aware of its incredible range of biodiversity and culture. Its main objective is to promote an ecological culture of respect and appreciation for the environment through its richness.

The Desert museum has four permanent exhibition halls and three showrooms that focus on fundamental aspects of Coahuila´s fascinating desert ecosystem with some of the best museum design in the country.  It shows the interaction between fauna, flora and environment from thousands of years ago to the present.  One of the main attractions is the skeleton of the Isauria dinosaur, discovered a few years ago in Coahuila.

The museum is a modern and extravagant affair, located in the expansive Parque Las Maravillas, about a 10 minute ride from downtown.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
